A card system built for thinkers
Royal Flux is a turn-based card battle game where both sides place simultaneously — you never know exactly what your opponent is committing until combat resolves. Victory belongs to the player who reads the board, builds the better deck, and understands the kingdom triangle before the damage is done.
This is not a game of whoever draws the rarest card. There are no packs to purchase, no randomised loot, and no pay-to-win shortcuts. Every card in Royal Flux earns its place through strategic composition and the mechanics that govern how kingdoms clash.
The Differential Engine
At the heart of Royal Flux is a three-kingdom group bonus system called The Differential Engine. Ashenveil beats Solarch. Solarch beats Null Foundry. Null Foundry beats Ashenveil. A winning group matchup grants a +10 power bonus to the attacker — a swing large enough to flip the outcome of any zone.
Building a deck means deciding which kingdoms you trust, how deep you go into any one group, and whether the draw percentages you are engineering will hold under pressure. Every race across all 18 options has a tier, a group, and a role. The deck builder shows you the math in real time.
Five modes. One engine.
Single player — Fight three distinct AI personalities ranging from patient and defensive to aggressive and optimal.
Hotseat PvP — Two players, one device, fully hidden placement. Pass and play at its most tactical.
Campaign — A narrative progression across three rival regions, four dungeons, shops, consumables, and a final boss. Available solo or in local co-op.
Boss Challenge — A standalone fight against the Abyssal Maester across three difficulty tiers.
Survival — A roguelite run where damage carries between every fight. Manage your HP or the run ends.
Depth without bloat
The deck builder supports up to 20 custom saved decks alongside 10 pre-built Alliance Codex configurations — each with a distinct strategic identity. Active deck constraints keep construction meaningful: a maximum of 20 sets total, with no single race exceeding 13. Every choice has a tradeoff.
Sigils add a permanent buff layer for campaign and survival runs — minor race bonuses, major race bonuses, and group-wide crests that can shift the kingdom balance entirely in your favour if applied at the right moment.
Procedural audio. Zero external files.
Every sound in Royal Flux is synthesised in real time using the Web Audio API. No audio files ship with the game. The ambient score runs a circle-of-fifths progression with bass, chord pads, and a melodic line built from Karplus-Strong string synthesis. The result is a living soundtrack that costs nothing in load time and never loops identically twice.
45 Steam achievements
Achievements span all five game modes — from campaign progression and dungeon completion to survival milestones and deck mastery. Every mode has something to chase.
About Arcane Architecture Limited
Royal Flux is the first commercial release from Arcane Architecture Limited, a solo independent studio built around a single principle: games should reward how well you think, not how much you spend.
Every title in development at Arcane Architecture begins as a proprietary mechanical design — a system that solves a real problem with existing games. Royal Flux addresses the balance failures endemic to collectible card games by replacing pack-driven economies with a matrix-based deck construction engine.
The studio's next project is a multi-board chess variant — an expanded competitive strategy title spanning up to 15 distinct board configurations, new piece classes, and multiplayer support. Its scope requires resources that a first release must help build. Purchasing Royal Flux directly funds the next chapter of what Arcane Architecture is building.
