Story

A story about a young woman following in her “missing” father’s footsteps to try and find out the truth behind the mysteries in the town she lives in, alongside two of her close friends, whilst combatting with the surreal elements that haunt their town. This is not a story where you can find the good in people. Sometimes, those you love are not who you want them to be.

Virewood is a nothing town, where no one talks about what goes on. Wake, work, sleep, repeat. There is no room to start looking into the happenings beneath the surface of this routine. It is not actively closed off. The town simply acts as if it is. If someone leaves, that is that. They aren’t discussed again. Ivorie wishes to change that - and to leave this empty town with a legacy.

Using the surreal, and unexplained “Pockets” that have popped up around Virewood once more, investigate what truly happened beneath the surface.

Characters 

• Ivorie Ratchwell, 23

Your “shoes”, so to speak, to experience Virewood. She’s strongwilled, cynical and holds a strong distaste for the Virewood. Her main goal is to find out what is going on, and then escape as soon as she can. She has no dreams of staying in this town.

• Max Enderson, 22

Ivorie’s childhood friend, who follows her like a shadow at the best of times. Excitable and passionate, he balances part-time work with his freelance hobbies. He wants to help Ivorie, and cares for her deeply. However, he thinks that she is too quick to get in over her head. Despite that, he won’t be the one to stop her - He’s fine to stay in this place.

• Victoria “Vic” Connors, 23

Sociable, intelligent, and hot-headed. Vic has never been one to back down from an argument, and that may be why her and Ivorie have gotten along for so long. Despite only having met in their teen years, the two of them have always been inseparable since. The one thing she won’t ever agree with Ivorie on, is her need to leave Virewood.

Of course, in a town of people, there aren't only three residents. There are many other individuals you will meet along this journey. Those who help you, those who don’t, and most commonly, those who are completely impartial.

Sanguine Cycle; Redux is a narrative driven game with a mix of side-scrolling walking sections, and top-down integrated puzzle sections. There are no choices, and no alternative endings, you simply observe and watch as the story progresses. Let yourself become lost within Virewood, and the ever-twisting world presented to you.
