The Subminer is an underwater survival-exploration game set in an alien ocean beneath the icy crust of Enceladus. Mine your way through a breakable environment while being aware of your surroundings. You never know what dangers are watching you from the shadows. Manage your resources carefully while you are underwater. One small miscalculation could mean death. Progress through a procedurally generated ocean spanning 3 depth levels, each filled with its own secrets, traps and monsters. Death is not the end. Upgrade your toolkit at the end of every run to go a little further each time.
Earth is dying, and you are its last hope. A catastrophic explosion has ripped through the Enceladus research base and silenced it, no signal, no survivors confirmed. The fate of humanity’s survival is you - a prototype, a new kind of bio-droid designed for the impossible. Board your submarine and descend into the ocean, mining for resources and fighting deep sea monsters whilst battling your own isolation and fears. Find out what happened and bring back what the world desperately needs - if you can make it out, that is.
Three depths stand between you and the truth, each one darker, more dangerous and more claustrophobic than the last. Each depth level brings new environments, new threats and the gnawing feeling that something enormous is watching you from just beyond your vision. The environment is procedurally generated and fully breakable. Each run will carve a different path through the dark. Drill through the terrain to open new routes. Trigger a chain reaction in the wrong spot and you may open a path to something you weren’t ready for. Survival is about reading the environment and defending against the terrors that it houses.
Your submarine is your lifeline, taking you deeper and carrying your resources. Switch between piloting your sub and taking to the water as the diver tethered by a chain. The deeper you get, the more that tether feels like the only thing saving you from the dark. The submarine has its own systems to manage and upgrade. You can fight the deep sea monsters using its defense systems or trigger huge explosions in the terrain to clear a wider path. The diver can go where the sub can’t, but beware, you are exposed out in the open waters. In case of catastrophic failure, the emergency evacuation system triggers, bringing you back to base.
Corrupted creatures lurk in the shadows and get nastier the deeper you go. You might hear them before you see them, meaning you have seconds to decide if you want to fight or run. Combat is quick and unforgiving, so map your escape routes in advance, manage your resources carefully and don’t get too greedy. Scattered through the depths are NPCs with side quests, shop (and trap) corridors and secrets worth uncovering. Be sure to keep track of your exit or the abyss will punish you.
Death may send you back to the surface, but you won’t be empty-handed. Rescued specialists set up base structures that expand your abilities, each tied to a different part of your kit - your suit, your sub, your drill. Each one unlocks new upgrade paths for you. Progress comes from learning the world and its systems and not merely upgrades. Knowing when to bank your resources and return to base and when to push further is what separates miners who make it back from the ones that don’t.
