All life on Earth was utterly annihilated, and after centuries of dormancy, a new civilization rises atop the ruins of its predecessor. Players take on the roles of humans from different eras, experiencing the despair of the old civilization’s collapse aboard the suspended Tiangong Space Station and in the underground bases converted from the ruins for the reborn civilization. You will explore the meaning of this new civilization’s existence and ultimately determine the fate of its future.
An unknown cosmic catastrophe struck Earth: the carbon atoms in all life forms were precisely transmuted into silicon, silently erasing hundreds of billions of living beings in just ten days. Not even the Tiangong International Space Station—the only manned spacecraft in orbit—was spared. Yet, Victor Lee, the scientist executing the mission at the time, left a final hope for civilization. Suspended alone in space for centuries, how could this lone hope traverse the cosmos and reach Earth?
Humanity recognized that existing technology could neither resist nor evade the transmutation strike. In the final ten days, desperate efforts were made to leave a lasting legacy—a series of underground memorials known as Echos Central Facilities.
These Echos Central Facilities utilized the groundbreaking Encoded Consciousness Host Object System (E.C.H.O.S), developed under Victor Lee’s leadership. This system could capture and encode human personality as data, stored in quantum computers, preserving at least traces of life’s existence.
Centuries later, as Earth’s environment begins to recover, the AI within the Echos Central Facilities unexpectedly begins to use these personality datasets to attempt to “revive” humanity. It turns out that a seemingly casual, romantically inclined low-level instruction from the past has been triggered.
After initial failures, the facilities fell silent again—until information from the Tiangong Station was accidentally transmitted back to Earth. This data completed the technical requirements of the Echos Central Facilities, giving birth to a new civilization and new life.
As a member of this new civilization, a new form of life, you will build and maintain the new world in the real-world underground bases while experiencing the memory fragments of the previous civilization within the all-encompassing virtual world of the Central Facilities.
Ultimately, can you unravel the truth of civilization within this interplay of reality and virtuality? And how will you personally decide the direction of its future?
