The Last Flame is a top-down wave-survival rogue-lite built around a single idea: keep the campfire burning. Creatures march out of the darkness toward your fire. Shoot them, feed the flame with the wood they drop, and survive long enough to see what the fire becomes.
There is no health bar. The fire tells you everything. A healthy flame is bright, warm, and loud — embers flying, logs crackling. A dying one shrinks, dims to red, and goes quiet. You learn to read it the way you'd read a real fire. Watch the color. Listen to the crackle. Feed it before it's too late.
Survival — Click to shoot. Hover to collect wood. Press F to feed the flame. Fast, tense, skill-based.
Idle — Everything automates. You spend coins. The fire burns twice as fast to keep the pressure on. Best for experimenting with absurd relic combinations while enemies scale to your upgrade power instead of wave number.
14 upgrades across bullets, fire, and automation — plus 4 prestige upgrades that repeat forever and climb in cost
4 place able structures — Watchtower, Forge, Shrine, and Beacon — each reshaping how your run plays
8 enemy types including stalking Brutes that pause at the dark's edge before charging, Necros that revive nearby corpses, and Shielders that eat your first bullet
Boss waves, Deep Night — the dark closes in on you
Random events — merchants, storms, ancient blessings, rituals. Choose what you're willing to burn.
Every 5 waves, pick 1 of 3. Fire, Bullets, Enemies, Economy, Turrets, Light/Dark, and a Cursed category where bullets teleport, mirror images fire behind you, and the screen goes fully black with auto-aiming plasma. Stacks interact. Runs diverge wildly. You will not see the same build twice.
Beat challenges like Pacifist (fire kills only), Dead Man's Bargain (all upgrades maxed, fire capped at 10%), or Ashen Vow (turrets only) and earn perks that carry into every future run. Your progress sticks.
Every wave you survive, the flame gets a little larger. Early on it's imperceptible. Later, the fire is pushing the darkness back on its own. Survive long enough, and the fire consumes the screen — and the game becomes something else entirely. (A free post-launch expansion is coming.)
