========= SUMMARY =========
‘Ruin Adventurer’ is an automation game with survival and programming elements. Use your robots to ensure your survival, automate resource gathering, and ultimately escape the ruins.
========= DISCLAIMER =========
This game was developed by a single developer as part of a final-year project for a higher school leaving certificate (Swiss education system, Higher Technical College). The aim of this project was to develop a video game and market it on Steam. The game is currently just about ready for an Early Access release and will be significantly expanded over the coming months.
========= GAMECONTENT =========
The current version of the game includes the following features/mechanics:
A procedurally generated map with 10 levels, each measuring 20x20 tiles. The map is modelled on an abandoned ruin or labyrinth.
Randomly distributed resources of various types
Survival mechanics involving hunger, thirst and energy, which must be maintained by mining resources
Programming mechanics for robots, which are the only way to interact with the game world
Research and progression systems that utilise the automated resources and items crafted from them
Save and load mechanics for a game state and unlimited user-created scripts
Infinite resources (provided the in-game price is paid) (Disclaimer: No real money, microtransactions, in-game currency or similar)
The game state is hardcore – there is only one life. If you fail to meet the survival mechanics, the save file is lost and you must start again.
You are provided with a robot at the start. Use this robot and the game’s own programming logic to ensure your survival and make progress. Expand your robot fleet and optimise your scripts to make better progress.
========= STORY =========
You play an adventurer who is exploring an unexplored cave and has an accident. Fortunately, you were rescued by the little robot ‘Bob’, who brought you to B.O.B. To get back home, you must now explore the ruins and unlock the lowest level. But what was this ruin for? What purpose did it serve? All these questions will only be answered through exploration. (Disclaimer: The relevant stories will be released in Q4 2026)
