Lady Arianne Reinard, daughter of the Duke of Willowport, never liked engaging with the banality of high society. She dreamed not of being an obedient wife and mother, like her nasty and narrow-minded sister Maribel, but of becoming an actress. Theatre was her great joy, and it was one fateful night outside of Willowport Theatre that brought her an introduction to the Fenfolk, her only true friends. Father did not approve, of course, it was uncouth for a Lady to be spending so much time with vagrants — But how could Lady Arianne resist? Those who inhabited the Fens had far more interesting stories to tell than the pompous cads who inhabited the aristocracy. Indeed, the Fenfolk certainly knew how to entertain more than Ser Alistair, Lady Arianne's suitor, at the least.
Nerves filled the air on the eve of the Reinard Summer Ball; Ser Alistair had made his return to Willowport and planned to propose, while Lady Arianne felt the beginning of the jaws of domestic life clamping down upon her. You may train to be an actress once you have fulfilled your duty to your family, Father promised, but where would she ever find the time?
Perhaps it was destiny, then, that Lady Arianne would overhear her father, Duke Vernon, and Ser Alistair plotting a most terrible act — On this very night, amidst the celebrations and Ser Alistair's long-awaited proposal, the Duke's men would tear down the Fens, and murder all those that live within. A crossroads before her, Lady Arianne chooses to shed her noble skin and steals her father's ship to flee Willowport and to save her friends, turning to a life of piracy and taking on the role of a lifetime: Captain Arianne of the Curtain Call!
Thus brings us to the beginning of tonight's play: While pursuing a plan to right her family's wrongs, and return she and her trusty companions to their home, the unexpected and untimely arrival of an enigmatic and flirtatious pirate named Theo threatens to alter the course of Captain Arianne's life, forever.
