
Project Doll is a Single player, Soft horror, Exploration game set in a rural Japanese school beset by a supernatural curse that has you finding clues, solving puzzles and uncovering the cause of the curse.
Inspired by games such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil series and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, Project Doll uses Japanese folklore to provide a mystery for the player to uncover.
Premise:
An expat British Journalist in Japan seeks respite from hectic urban life in Tokyo and a new source of inspiration for his writing, he sets out alone to drive into the countryside, with a Ryokan lined up for the night. However, on the hunt for a good story and fuelled by strange stories from the locals, he finds himself on the trail of an abandoned building nestled deep in the forest. When heavy rain leaves him stranded and without a phone signal, he is forced to go on foot, soon stumbling upon an abandoned school building.
Follow his story as he uncovers the mystery behind the schools closure and the stories of the students and staff that once attended the school through objects left behind. Strange anomalies and writing appearing on blackboards that were clean earlier. There is the sense that the place is not as untouched as he previously thought…
Gameplay:
Explore an unsettling environment, searching for clues hidden among the rooms and corridors that tell of those who once walked this place. Examine and interact with objects scattered throughout each location, uncovering fragments of a tragic story. Recording your findings in a journal as you piece together disturbing events and track your growing understanding of this seemingly haunted place.
