**Emotion turns the tide. Choice writes the ending.**
*Gemini in Flux* is a turn-based dark fantasy RPG. Whatever your characters feel during the story carries straight onto the battlefield as stat changes, and the choices you make along the way branch into four distinct endings.
**A story that begins again, in the Afterworld.**
You were supposed to be dead. Instead, a voice singing from the depths of dark water draws you upward, and you wake in a nameless forest. Waiting there is someone who seems to know you — a girl or a boy, depending on your chosen protagonist. They give you a name. The two of you begin to live together. And beyond those quiet days lies a journey: to mend the Mirror of Samsara, the relic that governs this world's laws and the cycle of rebirth.
**Grow closer to your companions. Face the truth.**
Pechi, a black cat carrying the memory of having once been deeply loved. Kaguya, a fire demon who lost her faith in humanity's selfishness. Hayate, a wind spirit forced into an unjust death — three companions join your journey.
The bond with your partner begins to waver. Feelings pass each other by. And waiting at the end is a question only you can face: why did you come to this world at all? The answer is yours to find, and yours to meet head-on.
**Love, attachment, and choosing to live again.**
This is a story about *choosing* — again — to live. Some endings are bright with hope. Others cut deep. Neither the combat nor the narrative will let you off easy.
**💞 A journey for two — a same-sex partner at your side**
Choose your protagonist: Mizuki (girl) or Nagi (boy). Mizuki travels with Rui, a bold and self-assured girl; Nagi with Kairi, a quietly steady boy whose softness hides a core of steel. Either way, your partner is the same gender as you. The relationship will be tested, will falter, will bend — and your choices guide it toward one of four different endings.
**❤️ The Emotion System — where heart and stats are the same thing**
What the story stirs in your characters shows up directly on the battlefield. Joy raises every stat. Anger sharpens attack. Sadness deepens magic. Fear weakens both attack and magic — except in beast-type creatures (both allies and enemies), who become harder to hit when afraid. Certain items let you steer these emotional states deliberately.
**🌑 The hidden "Empathy" parameter — and four endings**
What do you say to someone who's hurting? Or do you say nothing, and just take their hand? Every word and gesture you direct at your partner is silently logged as a hidden value called *Empathy*, and it ultimately decides where your story lands. Clues scattered through the world can also unlock paths to certain endings.
**📜 *Records* — perspectives that don't quite line up**
Tucked into the corners of dungeons are fragments of writing that drifted in from the world of the living. A witch. A soldier. A cat. Each *Record* tells the story from a different angle, and it's up to you, the reader, to piece them together into something like the truth. Collecting them yields small rewards along the way.
**⚔️ Combat that rewards reading. Builds without limits.**
Four-character turn-based battles. Lean on elemental affinities — fire, water, light, dark — and racial bonuses, and use the Sharp Eye skill to expose enemy weaknesses. On top of that: **every character can equip every weapon and every piece of armor.** Daggers that bypass evasion, greatswords that stagger foes — mix and match across eight weapon categories and their skill sets to forge a build that's yours alone. Fights with real teeth.
**🔰 Built for players who are here for the story**
Alongside **Normal Mode**, which delivers combat at its intended challenge, there's a **Story Mode** for players who'd rather sink into the narrative.
In either mode, if a tough boss wipes your party, you can **instantly retry from the state you started the fight in**.
