Mojuan is a single-player deckbuilding roguelike inspired by Chinese xianxia fantasy and strange tales.
Follow unfolding ink-wash scrolls into ever-changing stories shaped by samsara. Choose your path across branching routes, making decisions between battles, events, treasure rooms, shops, and campfires. Each run reshapes your deck, resources, and Qishu board layout, while placing new risks in your way.
Relics, consumables, and Qishu objects all enter a 7x7 Qishu board, each occupying cells in different shapes. You must place them carefully, combining board items with card effects so they can reveal their true power in the right position.
The Qishu board also contains special Nine Gates positions. Some objects may strengthen your defense when covering the Life Gate, while others may turn into deadlier attacks when touching the Death Gate. Positioning, adjacency, empty space, and board expansion all become part of your build.
Combat follows turn-based card rules. You can play Attack, Skill, and Power cards, or deploy cards with the Qishu trait onto the board and wait for them to take effect in later turns. Enemies can disrupt your rhythm by weakening you, polluting your deck, or pressuring your Qishu board, forcing you to weigh burst damage, endurance, and cleansing negative effects.
The currently available chapter, The Umbral Bamboo Grove, is shaped by bamboo shadows, mountain paths, strange beasts, and wandering Jianghu tales. You may encounter macaques sharpening bamboo by the stream, a drunken old martial artist offering wine, roadside chess games, name-picking birds, bamboo vipers, and patrols from the Floating Jade Hall. They may become enemies, bargains, trials, or encounters whose true cost is hard to judge.
