The Dark Forest Calls is a first-person survival horror game about isolation, limited resources, and the fear of being noticed by something unknown.
You wake up in an isolated village surrounded by darkness, fog, and something that should not be there. A candle may help you see what is in front of you, but in this place, light does not always mean safety.
This is not a fast action shooter.
Every room matters.
Every sound matters.
Every item matters.
And sometimes, staying quiet may be the only reason you survive.
🕯️ Light Can Help You... Or Expose You
Darkness is one of your biggest enemies, but light is not always your friend.
Your candle, flashlight, lantern, and other light sources can help you explore abandoned houses, dark paths, and hidden corners of the village. But every source of light also makes you easier to notice.
In The Dark Forest Calls, visibility is not just comfort.
It is a risk.
⚡ Restore Power, Change the Darkness
Some areas of the village are affected by generators and power systems.
Restoring power can change how a location feels. A dark house may become easier to explore. A path that once felt impossible to read may become clearer. A dangerous area may suddenly feel safer.
But safety is never guaranteed.
Light can reveal useful items, hidden routes, and important details, but it can also change the atmosphere around you. A powered area may feel comforting for a moment, until you realize that the darkness outside still surrounds you.
In this world, turning the lights on does not mean the danger is gone.
🧟 A Slow-Burn Survival Horror Experience
The game is inspired by old-school survival horror design, where the player is not supposed to feel powerful all the time.
You will explore abandoned buildings, search for useful items, manage limited resources, and decide when to fight, when to save ammunition, and when to run.
Combat is dangerous.
Resources are limited.
Panic can get you killed.
Melee combat rewards timing and patience. If you watch enemy movements carefully, you can survive without wasting precious supplies. If you attack blindly, death can come quickly.

🏚️ Explore the Village
The village is not simply abandoned.
Houses are empty, but they do not feel silent.
Paths are dark, but they do not feel safe.
Something has changed this place.
As you search for keys, supplies, notes, and tools, you will slowly uncover what happened here and why this place feels like it is watching you.
🎒 Search, Collect, Survive
Every useful item can matter.
A key may open the next route.
A note may reveal what happened before you arrived.
A small amount of ammunition may be the difference between surviving and dying.
The Dark Forest Calls is built around careful exploration and survival decisions. You are not meant to collect everything without thinking. You are meant to question what you need, what you can risk, and when it is better to leave something behind.
⚔️ Fight Only When You Must
You are not a superhero.
Enemies are dangerous, and fighting every threat may not be the best choice. Sometimes you may need to save ammunition. Sometimes you may need to use melee weapons carefully. Sometimes running away is the smartest option.
Survival depends on reading the situation, managing your supplies, and staying calm when the darkness starts moving.
🌌 The Idea Behind the Title
The title is inspired by the fear of calling out into the darkness.
Maybe something hears you.
Maybe it understands you.
Maybe it answers.
But that does not mean it is friendly.
The Dark Forest Calls is built around silence, isolation, and the danger of being noticed by something you do not fully understand.
🛠️ Development Plans
The Dark Forest Calls is currently in development.
The goal is to expand the game with:
A larger and more detailed playable area
More enemy types
More weapons and survival tools
Stronger story progression
More notes, secrets, and environmental clues
Improved enemy AI and combat feedback
Better animations, sound design, and visual polish
A longer full-game experience built around survival horror pacing
The goal is not to create an empty open-world experience.
The goal is to create a compact, tense, and memorable horror game where every location feels dangerous, every item feels useful, and every encounter makes the player think before acting.
👁️ A Note From the Developer
The Dark Forest Calls is a solo-developed horror project currently being built around atmosphere, exploration, resource management, and survival horror tension.
If you enjoy slow-burn horror, limited resources, dark forests, abandoned villages, and games where survival depends on careful decisions rather than pure firepower, this game may be for you.
