Dengeki Nurse

It’s Dengeki Nurse, released in 1992 by Cocktail Soft: a wild PC-98 adventure game starring a ragtag group of medical professionals, including the titular Dengeki Nurse, as they fend off the international crime syndicate Black Cross. Hijinks ensue as the game parodies just about anything adjacent to ’90s otaku culture: tokusatsu heroes, sci-fi villains, hospital drama, magical-girl energy, action anime, and bishōjo game tropes.

Dengeki Nurse is a time capsule of early-1990s Japanese computer gaming. Mixing point and click adventure scenes, vivid pixel-art characters, FM-synth sound, and bizarre turn-based “Dengeki Combat” encounters into something loud, scrappy, and unmistakably of its era.
