Metronome Mage is a pixel-art desktop companion idle progression game. It lives in a transparent magical window above your desktop, keeping you company while you work, study, write, code, or read. Every valid keyboard input becomes character experience, mana, and adventure progress, turning everyday focus time into a light fantasy journey.
Set against a Lo-Fi music backdrop, the game features a relaxed, comforting pixel-art style with a small mage, dungeon doors, monsters, loot, spell effects, and equipment. It is not a large windowed RPG or a complex productivity app, but a quiet, cute, always-visible focus companion.
By default, your mage takes part in light idle combat. Your keyboard input builds mana, casts spells, defeats monsters, and earns gold, equipment, and collectibles.
When you are ready to begin a focus session, you can start a 15, 25, or 45 minute dungeon exploration. Each exploration lets you choose a region and an optional TODO. When the timer ends, you earn gold, loot, skill growth, regional progress, and an adventure record. Even if you end early, input experience already earned is preserved, so reading, thinking, and low-input tasks still receive steady feedback.
Exploration and combat can drop collectible spells and rare loot. Each region has its own spell pool. Once unlocked, spells can add visual effects, keyboard sounds, and effect-chain abilities. You can freely combine and reorder effects such as delay, reverb, chorus, low-pass, and noise, making keyboard feedback, Lo-Fi music, and rest ambience grow richer as your collection expands, sometimes producing unexpected sound textures.
- A transparent, always-on-top, draggable small window designed to sit in a desktop corner for long sessions.
- Keyboard input drives growth, but raw typed text is not saved; only statistics, experience, and adventure results are recorded.
- Pomodoro-style dungeon exploration combined with RPG rewards: regions, rooms, monsters, equipment, collectible spells, and rare loot.
- Built-in Lo-Fi music, adjustable keyboard feedback, visual effects, and focus presets.
- TODOs, weekly goals, achievements, character bonds, and statistics panels help make long-term effort visible.
Metronome Mage turns ordinary focus time into visible progress. It does not force you to fill out complex forms or interrupt your workflow with punishments. Choose a goal, begin an exploration, and return to the real task. The code you write, documents you finish, notes you review, and reading you keep up with all leave traces of growth on your desktop mage.
It is designed for players who want to reduce the friction of starting, maintain a steady focus rhythm, and enjoy pixel RPGs, desktop pets, and lightweight progression feedback.
This software does not upload player data. Keyboard input is used only for in-game experience, mana, statistics, and adventure feedback. Raw typed text is not stored and is not used for any purpose outside the entertainment functions of the game itself.
