Manala fuses four things rarely found in one place: the deep, persistent worlds of classic text MUDs, the faction loyalty and roleplay of live-action LARP, the tactics of a card battler and the rendered world of a 2D RPG. It's a card-combat MMORPG where Light and Darkness wage a seasonal war for the world: and mortals like you decide who wins.
Pledge to a camp, build your deck, raid enemy ground, and conquer the map before the autumn equinox judges the year. Your character persists, your faction remembers, and the war turns whether or not you're online.

A world of Finno-Ugric & Scandinavian myth
The world of Manala is drawn from the underworld of Estonian legend, laced with viking mead-halls and the judge The Frog of the North, who summons both hosts to neutral ground atop the ancient hillfort of Kassinurme. Two primal forces Valgus (Light) and Pimedus (Darkness) have contested since the beginning and an old pact holds the balance. Every autumn, the chosen are called north to tip it.

Pledge to one of six warring camps (vikings, monks, dwarves, shadow elves, orcs or the zealots of the deep) and choose a side in a contest neither force has ever won.
Key features

Tactical card combat. Every fight is a turn-based duel fought with cards.
Build your deck. Tune your deck from your class's card collection to fit how you want to fight.
Five classes. Warrior, smith, healer, mage, or alchemist: each plays, fights, and crafts differently.
Faction war and conquest. Raid enemy camps and seize territory in faction-vs-faction PvP. Hold ground to push your side ahead in the seasonal war.
A living world. Explore camps, wilds, dungeons, and sacred groves room by room. Trade at the neutral hub, brew at the alchemy lab, test your luck at the dice table.
Death is not the end. Fall in battle and your soul returns from the edge of Manala, free to march back to the fight.
Climb the ranks. Earn standing in your camp, unlock its services, and race to decide the year before the equinox.

Solo or together
Play alone against the world, or band into a salk (party) and raid as a team. The world is shared and persistent: the war never truly stops.
